[Sunday] Look Up - Missio Dei

They always looked down at Zacchaeus, but Jesus looked up at him. How would you respond if people were always throwing down what you love?

[Sunday] Back to the Sheep - Missio Dei

When we ask for what is the greatest. Jesus points us to the way of the kingdom of God. The way of children, of sheep, and a Fox.

[Sunday] The Harvest - Missio Dei

Jesus says the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few. What exactly is the harvest, and what does it have to do with baseball?

Church in this part of Haiti is different than what we are used to at Grace Lutheran PSL.
Their Sunday runs much of the day with food and celebration. Right now, when people are enjoying the body of Christ, they must travel to a tree blind to use the bathroom. Not to mention when out-of-towners visit this church there is nowhere close to use the facilities.

This is a photo of the Main Church we work with in Haiti and where the bathroom will be.

As you can see from the photos this church is a humble building. But it is a beacon of love and service in its community. On a typical sunday they will have around 100 poeple in attendance.

Pastor Bruno Lexene (pictured) works with Habitat for children ministries to serve his community.

This is the same community the “Girls” came from.

Most of the people who live in this community do not have bathrooms themselves. Many of their homes are on our project list at HFCM to build a kitchen and bathroom.

Photo at Pastor Bruno Lexene House.
You can tell its a pastors house becasue its set up as the community hangout. 10 Min walk to the church

Yes they worship 90 to 100 people a week here.

[Sunday] Ordinary Christmas - Missio Dei

Christmas comes with so much pomp and circumstance. From the decorated homes to all the gatherings, there is so much extra at Christmas. But where Christmas really shines is in the quiet of the ordinary.

Merry Christmas

Christmas comes with so much pomp and circumstance. From the decorated homes to all the gatherings, there is so much extra at Christmas. But where Christmas really shines is in the quiet of the ordinary.

QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK:   Missio Dei: The Great Sending - Ordinary Christmas

  1. Can you think of a time in your life that felt ordinary, but something good came out of it?

  2. Read Luke chapters 1 & 2.  What do you believe that you, as an ordinary-but-God-gifted person, can do to fulfill what God has sent you to accomplish?

  3. Both John’s birth and Jesus’ birth were miraculous events.  What miracle has God performed in your life that convinces you of his love and that gives you the courage to be His representative?

  4. This story focuses on the very young (Mary and two babies) and the very old (Zechariah, Elizabeth, Simeon, and Anna).  What role does your age play in fulfilling God’s calling in your life?

[Sunday] Be Perfect? - Say What - Jesus Said What?

Wait, are we really supposed to be perfect like God? That’s a lot of pressure! But what if the perfect is more like the completion of the seventh day? Perhaps, in the perfection, we will finally find rest.

Matthew 5:48

Wait, are we really supposed to be perfect like God? That’s a lot of pressure! But what if the perfect is more like the completion of the seventh day? Perhaps, in the perfection, we will finally find rest.

QUESTIONS FOR THE WEEK:   Say What?  Jesus said What? - Be Perfect?

  1. Share a story of a time you felt pressure to be perfect.  What effect did that pressure have on you?

  2. Read Matthew 5: 43-48.  What does it mean to be perfect?  Discuss the idea of completeness vs. flawlessness.

  3. How does God show perfect or complete love for us?  Can you think of examples from the Bible or your own life?

  4. How can we bring God’s seventh day of completeness and rest to others, even our enemies?

New Song, “Cornerstone"

Great Song using “On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand” Lyrics.

Here is Grace’s Recording for Sunday

On June 16th 2024 we are singing
“Cornerstone”

 (CCLI 6158927)
© 2011 Hillsong MP Songs; Hillsong Music Publishing Australia; Hillsong Music Publishing UK

1. My hope is built on nothing less
than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
No merit of my own I claim
but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

2. When darkness veils his lovely face,
I rest on his unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale
my anchor holds within the veil.

(REFRAIN)
Christ alone
cornerstone
Weak made strong
in the Saviour's love
Through the storm
He is Lord
Lord of all

3. His oath, his covenant, his blood
sustain me in the raging flood;
When all supports are washed away,
He then is all my hope and stay.
(REFRAIN)x2 (Key Change)

4. When he shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found,
Clothed in his righteousness alone,
redeemed to stand before the throne!
(REFRAIN)x2

Listen to the Orginial.
